CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Besides the usual competitions like the men's, women's events will also take place. Women are competing

The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski took the overall title after she held her lead through the entire competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the women's first event in the Games and the women's side was hoping to complete the podium.

The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders, an Australian athlete who finished second in Australia in the team division and eleventh overall in 2020 is another contender. Andrea Nisler (who competed as a team in the 2018 division, finishing third in the United States and fifteenth overall for 2020) is another rising star. In addition to these athletes, the Women's competition will also feature a newcomer to the sport - Icelandan competitor Sara Sigmundsdottir, who won the first place medal in the World Crossfit Games earlier this year.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. CrossFit Games athletes train by focusing on ten core physical skills: strength, flexibility and speed. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. Cutting system

CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. Although it's not as drastic as previous Games, it is still quite different from this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.

This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Veteran Games participants criticized Castro's system, claiming that the cuts were too drastic.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. Reebok will not fund the Games' prize pool, but it will still make all the equipment and apparel worn by athletes, even the Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.
